Currently, "inflammatory response" theory is widely accepted as pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Abnormal increase of apolipoprotein ApoB-100, a composition of low density lipoprotein (LDL), which causes pathological inflammation, is a major factor leading to atherosclerosis. Therefore, inhibition of ApoB-100 induced pathological inflammatory responseimmunotherapy is expected to delay the development of atherosclerosis. This review focused on the recent advances of ApoB-100 vaccine and other ApoB-100 inhibitors against atherosclerosis.
