Abstract: Metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) and N-methyl-D-aspartatereceptor (NMDAR) belongs to metabotropicandionotropic glutamate receptor family, respectively. In recent years, a lot of attention has been paid to these two types of glutamate receptors in the field of neuroscience and psychiatry. This article mainly summarized the research progress of the relationship between these two kinds of receptors and the influence of their relationship on different diseases.

Key words: metabotropic glutamate receptor 5, N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor, SH3 and multiple ankyrin repeat domains 3, Homer protein
