One case report of POEMS syndrome with hypothyroidism, systemic edema, and pulmonary hypertension as the initial manifestation

Abstract:

This paper reported 1 case of POEMS syndrome with 16-year hypothyroidism. The patient came to our hospital due to edema for 1 year. After perfect inspection, we found the patient had pulmonary hypertension, multiple serous cavity effusion, spleen enlargement and high serum prolactin. But after the conventional anti heart failure treatment, there was no improvement in the patient with edema. Finally after the electrophoresis and bone marrow cytology, the patient was diagnosed as POEMS syndrome.
