Abstract: Schizophrenia is a severe, recurrent mental disorder with a poor prognosis and brings a great burden to patients' family and society. However, its etiology and pathogenesis have not been fully elucidated. Previous studies have implicated abnormalities of the immune system in schizophrenia. Besides, it has also been shown that there does exist a significant association between schizophrenia and interleukins, a kind of cytokine as an important component of the immune system. The present review aims to provide an updated overview of the relevance between interleukin-17 and schizophrenia.
